Ridgeback was founded in 1983 by Errol Drew after he saw a mountain bike at the New York Bike Show in 1982 – he described it as the ‘future of cycling.’ Since then, Ridgeback has focussed on providing quality touring and commuter bikes.
In 2001 Ridgeback produced the flat bar road bike and in turn created a new twist on the commuter sports bike. The bikes, made with Shimano engineered parts, were a hit and sold out immediately! Ridgeback refined the sports commuter bike even further in 2008 when they released the R25 – just in time for Ridgeback’s 25th Anniversary. The R25 had hydraulic disk brakes which made for excellent grip and stopping safety.
Scoot is a fun beginner bike designed by Ridgeback that helps children learn the safety fundamentals of bike riding before graduating onto a proper bike. Ridgeback prides themselves on offering quality bikes to children and adults with a focus on evolution and refinement of their current touring and commuter bikes.
